Institute of Environmental Sciences invites you to the lectures Prof. Dr. Nico M. van Straalen – candidate for the Honoris Causa Doctorate of the Jagiellonian University
Prof. Nico van Straalen from the Free University of Amsterdam, is one of the few outstanding scientists with unprecedented broad horizons. His publications cover various aspects of physiology, zoology, population ecology, genetics, evolutionary biology and ecotoxicology. His scientific output includes 273 works in JCR journals cited more than 7850 times (Hirsch index = 43) and 11 books. Prof. van Straalen is also a devoted educator, teaching not only at his home university and in the Netherlands, but in many countries around the world. He supervised dozens of MSc students and promoted 70 PhDs.
From 23rd March to 25th May 2019 Prof. Van Straalen will be a guest of the Faculty of Biology and will teach two courses:
- WB.VP-1 Molecular toxicology, genetic variation and adaptation
25th March – 18th April, INoŚ, Gronostajowa 7, room 1.1.1, Mon. 15:00-18:00 and Thu. 15:00-18:00, 32 contact hours, 4 ECTS;
- WB.VP-2 Origin of life and early evolution
24th April – 22th May, INoŚ, Gronostajowa 7, room 1.1.1, Mon. 15:00-18:00 and Wed. 14:00-17:00, 32 contact hours, 4 ECTS.
