PhD students who started studies in 2017 are all participants of the project „WIN. Wsparcie INterdyscyplinarności kierunku PhD Programme in Biology". The project is co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund – Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development Axis III Higher Education for Economy and Development, Action 3.2 PhD Programme

Foreign travels

In 2021 deadlines for sending applications will be in Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. The shortest possible time span between the application and travel is 3 weeks.

The next deadline is 1st June 2022 at noon. Please deliver the document to Ms. Anna Stec and send the email to Joanna Rutkowska.

Guests of the project

2018

Between 23-27 April 2018 the project hosts Professor Benjamin Bolker (MacMaster University), who will give a course "Generalized and linear mixed models for biologists". Registration in USOS web (WB.SD.E-12).

On 18th October 2018 the project hosts Dr Przemysław Żelazowski (Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw, SatAgro Project, Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford), who will give a seminar at 1 pm, room 1.1.1 Gronostajowa 7, and then meet with PhD students.

 

2019

In 5-7 June 2019 the project hosted Dr. Małgorzata Blicharska (Uppsala University), who gave a course “Biodiversity and ecosystem services: from conservation to decision making”.

On 22nd November 2019 the project hosted Dr Dominik Czaplicki (ABAN fund), who gave a lecture “From knowledge to impact: tricks and traps of tech-based business” and then met with PhD students.

 

2020

On 26th November 2020 the project hosted MSc Aleksandra Wróblewska (IQVIA). She presented a talk about work in field of clinical tests and then met with the PhD students. Meeting was held on MSTeams platform from 9-11 am.

 

2021

In March 2021, the project hosted Dr. Małgorzata Lagisz, who gave a course “Elements of Open Research practice”.

In June 2021, the project hosted host Dr. Mario Vallejo Marin, who gave a course „Speciation and hybridisation in plants”.

In September 2021 the project hosted Professor Reinhardt Møbjerg Kristensen (Natural History Museum of Denmark), who will give a course “New insights into invertebrate evolution”.

 

2022

On Thursday, 27th January 2022 the project hosted Dr Katarzyna Śnigórska from the office of Landscape Parks of Małopolska Voivodeship. She presented a talk about work in field of education and outreach. After her talk, she met with PhD students for informal conversations about career opportunities. Meeting was held in room 1.1.3 from 1:00 – 2:50.

In 2-nd half of February 2022 the project hosted MSc Justyna Żółtek, Human Resources Director in Ryvu Therapeutics. Her lecture and workshop were about recruitment process and preparations for an interview in pharmaceutical companies.  

Scholarship support for a PhD student from Ukraine

The WIN Wsparcie INterdyscyplinarności kierunku PhD Programme in Biology project (no: POWR.03.02.00-00-I021/16) entails the support for a Ukrainian Citizen with the objective of filling competence gaps of a PhD student from Ukraine by improving skills due to the three-month scholarship (PLN 2000 per month, from September to December 2022) granted for the time of stay in Poland at the Faculty of Biology of Jagiellonian University.

Target group: A PhD student in the field of biological sciences, who, on grounds of war on the territory of their country, is not able to advance their methodological skills indispensable to research implementation and the preparation of their doctoral dissertation. The scientific interests of the person covered by the support shall refer to the thematic scope of at least one of the research groups of the JU Faculty of Biology.

The recruitment criteria for a Citizen of Ukraine

- academic achievements (publications, participation in conferences, academic internships) – 0,5 weight

- a command of English to be verified during an interview – 0,3 weight

- the compliance of the subject area with the thematic scope of research implemented in a selected team/department from the JU Faculty of Biology (confirmed by a letter of recommendation from a head of a team/department of the JU Faculty of Biology) – 0,2 weight

In order to take part in the recruitment process it is required that the scans of documentation confirming the fulfilment of the conditions of the target group and the recruitment criteria be sent by 29 September 2022 to the address: joanna.rutkowska@uj.edu.pl 

The scholarship agreement shall be concluded with the successful candidate.
